Diesel Truck Working Foreman Mechanic / Supervisor

Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling

Full Time Monday thru Friday. 1st shift. Salaried position, pay depending on experience, working Foreman. Maintain 20+ trucks. Fantastic benefits package.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Knowledge and ability to perform Preventative Maintenance services with general knowledge related to heavy duty and light duty trucks. This may include gasoline, diesel and CNG Systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Aid/assist drivers in completion of the daily Post trip and vehicle safety inspection process

2. Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment during Safety Lane and PM’s.

3. Complete lubrication and repair of lubrication points on vehicles as assigned on the daily schedule

4. Ability to learn and utilize brake inspection procedures and complete documentation daily

5. Perform basic repairs and maintenance on Heavy Duty Equipment, including but not limited to Rear Load, Front Load, Roll Off, Grapple, Port-a-let, and other service type trucks including chassis and body.

6. Communication with A & B technicians /drivers as to issues with vehicles and discusses preventative techniques that may minimize future repairs.

7. Completes all required paperwork / computer data entry, including documenting parts usage and time in and out on repair orders, in a timely and concise manner.

8. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards which may include sweeping, organizing and maintaining the shop and grounds areas.

9. Conducts repairs utilizing Factory Service Manuals.

10. Maintain high standard of Ethics and Dependability.

11. Follows all safety policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to assist drivers with Pre/Post trip process
  • Ability to identify visible repairs required on vehicles: lights, mirrors, leaks, body damage etc.
  • Ability to assist/complete fluid top up on vehicles including oil, hydraulic fluids, transmission fluid, DEF fluid
  • Knowledge of tire inspections and air pressure adjustments
  • Ability to support technicians in repair of lights, wipers, mirrors.
  • Ability to understand and use lubrication charts for waste trucks
  • Ability to lubricate components on trucks as scheduled (training provided)
  • Ability to assist technicians in the repair of basic engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to Heavy Duty and Light Duty Trucks.
  • Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills as required.

CDL Driver – Danbury

Hours: 5 AM to 3:30 PM Monday thru Friday.

Pay range: $18-$23 per hour.

Job Purpose: Perform a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating pickup
and removal of waste/rubbish in support of Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning route to ensure most economical use of time and equipment
  • Perform all duties in accordance with appropriate safety and security standards
  • Perform daily Pre & Post-Trip inspections of your vehicle
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle. Report all mechanical issues immediately, to Supervisor

Heavy Equipment Operator – Shelton

Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for it’s Shelton, CT facility. Monday thru Friday either 1st shift 5:00am to 3:00pm or 2nd shift 3:00pm to 12:00am, and some weekend availability is needed. Pay rate starts in the range of $18.00 + per hour and is commensurate on level of experience.

Heavy Equipment Operator Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Operator. Candidates should have at least one year of experience operating a variety of heavy equipment, including front loaders, mini excavators, and cranes. You will be responsible for inspecting trucks before and after you use them, load and unload cargo and waste, and move large pallets of inventory from one area to another. When necessary, you will also perform routine maintenance on the machines or recommend they be sent out for repairs. All equipment operators must follow company and governmental safety guidelines at all times.

Heavy Equipment Operator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company’s operating safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance.
  • Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
  • Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
  • Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation.
  • Inspect large equipment before and after use to ensure they are working properly
  • Load and unload cargo / waste and refuse and move them to the appropriate storage area
  • Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
  • Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs when necessary
  • Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties

Heavy Equipment Operator Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Licensed to use Heavy Equipment
  • 1+ years of experience working with heavy equipment
  • Possession of a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or a willingness to obtain the license
  • Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards
  • Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling is looking for a Full- Time Helper for back of the truck out of their Shelton, CT location. Under certain different circumstances, we WILL consider a candidate with background check issues.

Full-Time Monday thru Friday. Hours normally 5am-3:30pm. Our helpers average about 50-55 hours a week. Overtime and time and a half after 40 hours. Full Union- paid amazing benefit package. $14 – $15 per hour.

The Helper is responsible for assisting the refuse truck driver on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Picks up solid waste and places it in the back of a rear load garbage truck on specified routes often done manually or by pushing totter to tipper. Lifts and carries trash bags, bulk items and containers to the truck for disposal. Climbs onto and off of the rear truck step to load refuse, waste and carts. Operates packing mechanism to compact waste into the truck.
  2. Provides a safe and Distinguishably Different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to the general public and customers. Exhibits a positive attitude towards company, customer and municipal goals.
  3. Ensures garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly; pick up may require using back door.
  4. Answers questions for residents and directs them to contact Customer Service or appropriate government office for additional information.
  5. Must comply with all ANSI (American National Standards Institute), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and company safety polices including Oak Ridge Waste Absolute Guidelines.
  6. Assists Driver in safely backing up the truck by directing the Driver from the ground.
  7. Cleans behind the compactor blade with shovel and hoe when directed. Sprays and cleans the hopper and truck at the end of each shift or as needed.
  8. Reports any safety or customer service related issues to driver and supervisor, immediately.

Residential Helper Stamford

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling is looking for a Full- Time Helper for back of the truck out of their Stamford, CT location. Under certain different circumstances, we WILL consider a candidate with background check issues.

Full-Time Monday thru Friday. Hours are normally 5am-3:30pm. Our helpers average about 50-55 hours a week. Overtime and time and a half after 40 hours. Full Union- paid amazing benefits package. $14.50 – $15.50 per hour.

The Helper is responsible for assisting the refuse truck driver on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Picks up solid waste and places it in the back of a rear load garbage truck on specified routes often done manually or by pushing totter to tipper. Lifts and carries trash bags, bulk items and containers to the truck for disposal. Climbs onto and off of the rear truck step to load refuse, waste and carts. Operates packing mechanism to compact waste into the truck.

  • Provides a safe and Distinguishably Different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to the general public and customers. Exhibits a positive attitude towards company, customer and municipal goals.
  • Ensures garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly; pick up may require using back door.
  • Answers questions for residents and directs them to contact Customer Service or appropriate government office for additional information.
  • Must comply with all ANSI (American National Standards Institute), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and company safety polices including Oak Ridge Waste Absolute Guidelines.
  • Assists Driver in safely backing up the truck by directing the Driver from the ground.
  • Cleans behind the compactor blade with shovel and hoe when directed. Sprays and cleans the hopper and truck at the end of each shift or as needed.
  • Reports any safety or customer service related issues to driver and supervisor, immediately.
  • Performs a variety of manual duties in the clean-up of scattered refuse; Cleans up the area around
    accidental waste spills and ensures customers’ containers are replaced properly.
  • May be required to work during emergency situations.
  • 11. Assists other routes as needed to complete daily work.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
