Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling is committed to controlling costs so we can provide our customers with a great overall value in waste and recycling services. However, the rising cost of fuel prices is something outside of our control. Our fuel charge is a fee that helps us to recover direct costs resulting from increased prices in diesel fuel. It is not a tax, surcharge, or fee imposed by any regulatory or government agency.

The Fuel Charge is directly tied to the Regional U.S. Average On-Highway Diesel Fuel Price update reported by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy (“EIA”). This index is objective, publicly available and widely recognized in the trucking and transportation industries. The EIA updates this public index weekly by tracking actual average retail diesel prices across the country. For your reference, the index can be viewed by clicking the following link: EIA TABLE.

The Fuel Charge included with your invoice will be updated each month. It is determined by taking the average peak weekly diesel price per gallon for the preceding month and applying the corresponding percentage from the Oak Ridge Waste Recycling Charge table to the invoice charges before taxes.
