At the beginning of September, Oak Ridge Waste had the opportunity to join the Danbury San Gennaro Festival. We had a booth of employees handing out our very own water bottles & wooden spoons! We even had our brand-new truck there and a face-painting artist! It was great to see some of your smiling faces there.
We teamed up with Connecticut Institute for Communities right here in Danbury. They are a non-profit organization that serve low-income families. Our office was very excited to do a toy drive to make sure every child got gifts this Christmas ❤️
The second week of October this year, we held Breakfast & BBQs for all of our crews at all locations to show appreciation for the hard work they put in day in and day out. We hope everyone enjoyed and we appreciate everyone who helped out.
This past October we had our second annual Halloween Coloring Contest! We asked our employee’s children to help us dress up our fleet for Halloween night! Our trucks needed costumes too! We had many talented submissions from spooky to cute! Between the 3 age groups, we had 9 winners! Our first-place winners got to go to Bicycle Center in Brookfield, one of our very own customers, and pick out their favorite bike and helmet as their prize! Our second-place winners got a $100 gift card & our third-place winners got a $50 gift card. We thank everyone who joined in on the fun & we are so excited to do it again next year!
June 17th is National Garbage Man Day. Here at Oak Ridge, we celebrated with ice-cold waters, snacks, and ice cream on a hot day for all of our employees. We thank them for their hard work day in and day out. We are proud garbage men & women here!
On June 26th, we had an awesome day at our company picnic celebrating our employees and their families to thank them for all of their hard work. We all enjoyed great food, games & family activities.
This Veterans Day, we wanted to thank & recognize our veterans that work for here at Oak Ridge. We brought each employee a gift, some T shirts with our American flag Oak Ridge logo & a new hat. Thank you to the brave men & women who have served our country. Happy Veterans Day!
The single-stream recycling process takes the hassle out of recycling. ‘Single-stream’ essentially means that the materials are all put into one ‘stream,’ instead of two. This allows you to recycle without separating paper, glass, and plastic before they are set at the curb; instead, we have machines that do the sorting. All materials go into one bin and our truck delivers them to our single-stream facility for the process to begin.

Oak Ridge Waste had their grand opening of their single-stream recycling facility in Shelton, CT! This is the second single-stream facility that Oak Ridge Waste operates from; the other station is located in Danbury, CT.
