Position Summary

The outside sales representative is responsible for selling new or additional services to existing and potential customers in an assigned service area. The outside sales representative is responsible for identifying and generating leads, proactively prospecting and selling commercial, industrial and recycling services to new customers. The outside sales representative is also responsible for building, maintaining and growing long-term relationships with existing clients and meeting targeted sales and retention goals.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal and strategic selling and negotiation skills
  • Skilled deployment of proposals and ability to execute service agreements
  • Maintains strong and active listening skills; gives full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and language used, asks questions when appropriate, and allows others fully state their ideas before jumping in
  • Must be high energy, friendly and engaging; has excellent persuasion skills; can persuade others to change their minds or behavior
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical and formal presentation skills
  • Proficient use of Office 365 and related platforms
  • Demonstrated organizational, oral, written, and listening skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, in a way the customer can understand
  • Prepare and submit all administrative paperwork for customer set up, account changes and commissions
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills

Experience

Minimum 5 years “Business to Business” sales in Waste & Recycling industry or similar industrial environment

Education

Associates degree in Business Administration or sales and Marketing is preferred

Other Requirements

  • Valid Drivers license
  • Ability to lift 40lbs

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Occasional overnight travel may be required for training.
